Holiness Message for Parents
Philippians 4:4-9
God's Gift of Peace
Anxiety --> Prayer --> Peace (Poblem / Solution / Result)
The Family Bible is designed for you to do as a family several times a week.
You can, of course, mix this up depending on your family schedule.
Maybe two days this week and 5 next week
Or the whole study every night until it's done
You might do your study in the mornings, or the evenings
You might have 1 day a week where you do 2-3 days (like a family Sunday afternoon
Notes to Remember
The text differs between younger children and older children/adults. But the readings, ideas, and possilble answers are the same. So you can download different version for different family members and still all do the study and discussion together.
Choose the appropriate booklet for your child. Booklets are labelled A (pre-school), B (Junior), C (Middle), D (Senior/adult) so that you can choose a level that is appropriate for each family member. (eg: a teenager, who is a new Christian, may benefit more from the middle school booklet, as the language is simpler. Or you may have a year 3 (Junior) who is a very competent reader and would benefit from the middle booklet, and a year 1 (Junior) who would benefit more from the Pre-School level booklet.)
Important for families with teens, starting a Family Bible Study for the first time.
- Include food (could be dessert or other enticing food)
- Let the discussion flow, even if it goes off track
- Be prepared to answer tough or embarrassing questions with openness and honesty
Important for families with very young children
- Make your studies very short
- It is more important at this age to build the habit of regular Bible study, than it is to get the answers correct or complete the activity. You are building habits at this age, not theology
You can download/Print as many copies of this study as you need for personal family use.
(this includes relatives living with you or visiting your house when you do the study, but does NOT extend to sending copies to extended family who do not live with you. If you would like to purchase Bookelt D for Home Groups/Youth Groups click here)
The memory verses section is designed for all members of the family to learn the key verse (or passage) for the month.
Use a dry-errase marker and write the verse on a mirror. Read out load each morning and evening. Rub out a word every few days.
Play Round Robin as a family after/before dinner each night, saying a word each until the memory verse in complete.
